I'm not a perfect girl. My hair doesn't always stay in place and I spill things a lot. I'm pretty clumsy and sometimes i have a broken heart. My friends and I sometimes fight and maybe some days nothing goes right. But when i think about it and take a step back, I remember how amazing life truly is and that maybe, just maybe, I like being unperfect <3

Help!

Sooo i just started this blog, and i have no clue what i'm doing. haha

Any advice....?

How to make it cute.... (since i'm specially challenged)?

xoxoxo

:)

My brother is ridiculous.

Yesterday i come down stairs to see THIS sitting on my kitchen counter. Just headin off to a little bbq n o big deal. Every day his meals look as beautiful as this. no lie. When he makes icecream sundays i all the sudden have no self control and have to leave the room. He truly has a gift. haha this looks so yummy!! and its all fresh fruit! This would be a delicious plate to snack off of! Anyway, i made him pose for a picture because i was awed by his masterpiece. I swear the cambodians did him good. welllpp happy sunday !

What is it about cookies that make life so wonderful? Is it the milky chocolate chip that melts in your mouth leaving you with a rich creamy cocoa flavor that lingers for hours? (If you don't brush your teeth...te hee hee) Or is it the warm buttery texture of the cookie itself that screams you know you want me come and get me?! Either way, nothing can make me as happy as a oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. Except maybe world peace.
Someone told me its been proven that girls are chemically made up to like chocolate more than men. I think i am a prime example of this. . .
My major is nutrition, i know what you are thinking...IRONIC. haha but my take on dietetics is that if you deprive yourself of something... eventually most people binge. Get into good habits that fit your body and your needs, and stick to them!! If you really want a chocolate chip cookie, eat it. Just don't eat 20! haha I try to get into habits such as this, choose a day or two to spoil yourself with a treat. If your mormon, that day tends to be sunday. Eat a big yummy dessert and enjoy it! Then avoid treats during the week so you can have your sunday treat againnnn!! yumm numm! My thing is graham crackers. My family is dessert MANIACS, so during the week if i'm craving sweets i'll whip out a few graham crackers and milk. Not a bad idea...lot less calories and fat than these choco cookies i made! haha

Since i'm a nutrition major i'll prob post stuff about nutrition oh too frequently, but heres a little nutrition tip for the day:

FAT BURNS IN A CARBOHYDRATE FLAME!

"Before fatty acids can be transported, they must be activated by the addition of Coenzyme A (CoA). This reaction requires and 'investment' of energy from ATP. " ATP from Carbss!! You need to eat carbs to burn fat!! Just don't OD on carbs! Dr. Atkins was a little looney..and now not alive... anyhow, don't cut carbs out of your diet if you want to lose weight.

Here is another reason to get adequate carbs:

"The TCA cycle (metabolic cycle) functions only when there is adequate oxaloacetate, a carb derivative. Thus if a person is following a very low-carb diet, which increases fat catabolism, or if a person with diabetes has too little functioning insulin to allow glucose to enter the cells, oxaloacetate production falls and TCA cycle activity decreases. As fat catabolism continues during this carb-depleted state, the acetyl CoA builds up, exceeding the ability of the TCA cycle to metabolize it, and it begins to accumulate in the liver cells" Leading to ketones which are very acidic and bad for your body! (Because they are acidic (thus give your body a higher pH than healthy) you're body will try to urinate them out, which can lead to dehydration, etc.) In addition, if ketosis gets bad enough, your body starts using protein sources like muscle tissue and organ tissue to produce the oxaloacetate and other things the body needs to keep the TCA cycle functioning.

So tip of the day,

If you are starting a No Carb diet, reconsider. :)

The best way to being a healthy regimen is to cut out the processed foods and when you get hungry, eat a banana, or apple, or cucumber. Not only are these very nutrient dense, but its harder to binge eat bananas than it is cheetos.

Happy Sundayyyy! Hope you enjoyed the nutrition tips of the day! ohh and since its sunday.... go have a cookie :)

Stranger danger

So today i came across a stranger who told me 2 wise things:

1. Carry you're stuff with you at the gym, people know how to break your lock....

2. "The key to success is to love everyone, and always do more than what they expect of you cheerfully."

I don't think i've ever been given better advice. Its only been one day and #2 has already made my day incredible!! So often i get to busy i just do what is expected of me and move on, but i found that just doing even a little bit more for each person I meet, expecting nothing in return, has the most amazing impact on my life!

I have a beautiful wonderful family,

and a best friend for a sister.

LiFe Is GoOd :)

I've grown quite fond of cooking.

Adam's peanut butter cup fudge ripple knock off! yum num!

I also started my recipe book with nutrition analysisessss for my recipes. Its pretty sweet. Somewhat discouraging however. Turns out snickerdoodles aren't that healthy for you. tee hee hee.

Why is it that as soon as school gets out i all the sudden want to read my nutrition text book? If you want to, call me and you can check out my metabolism power point i just made. haha

And this is why i love my family :)

1:02 am random thoughts

“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”

10 random things i've learned in life... :)

1. Never say never. How many times has the unthinkable in your life actually happened?

2. Work hard, but love harder. So many times i find myself caught up in work, school, chores, sports... but at the end of the day, they aren't there. My family is. Love your family and constantly remind them of it through your actions, not just your words. Spend time with your mom and cherish her advice. Take the time to sit and chat, that homework will still be there in 10 years if you don't do it, but your family may not. Love your friends and be there for them.

3. Agree to disagree. There is no way you're always going to agree with the people you associate with. Don't push your point at them if they aren't going to side with you. Respect them, love them, and feel how you feel.

4. When you get the choice to sit it out or dance, dance. Opening up to someone and loving them is hard. Vulnerability is probably one of our biggest fears. Truth is though, to love is to have lived. Do you want to leave this life with your pride? or with a heart thats healed even bigger than it was to begin with?

5. Learn to let things go. The only thing certain about life is uncertainty. We never know whats going to happen. Change is inevitable. What we can control, however is how we deal with it. If you never let things go and move on you're never going to be happy. Embrace change. Welcome it. And most of all be excited for the future. There is a reason some people don't make it to your future.

6. Forgive. No one is perfect. We are all going to make mistakes, and we are all going to do things to offend each other. If we hold grudges, we're going to be left with no one to love. Accept people for who they are and forgive them of their imperfections, just as they forgive you. If you can't seem to let go of a grudge, serve that person. Its amazing how service increases love. If someone will not forgive you or has hurt you, love them even more with all your heart, and then it is up to them to accept your kindness.

7. Pray. We can't do it on our own. The lord is there with his arms outstretched towards us. Although we may have to go through a trial, the lord can lift our burden and make that trial light. When life is hard get on your knees and he'll always be there. ALWAYS.

8. Smile. Look around! Its beautiful!!

9. Recognize how beautiful you are. The lord created us kind of like an artist creates his masterpieces. An artist doesn't paint 15 paintings and only make the 10th one pretty. He makes all his masterpieces DIFFERENT, but equally beautiful in their own way. Realize that God created us in the same sense. He didn't just make one of us beautiful and then make the rest 'okay'. If we see ourselves through God's eyes, we'll realize how incredible we really are.

10. Laugh. you can't laugh at something or someone and still be angry. When you get in a fight, breathe, look at eachother, and then laugh at how ridiculous you're being. Laugh for no reason and laugh to make someone else laugh. You'll find life seems much more entertaining.
